Hope Street is a contemporary story that has something for everyone; it deals with the relentless ghosts of the past, silence, pain, and atonement. The audience gets to watch three different characters find their feet in Icelandic society in the years just before the collapse and how their fates intertwine deeply. Móri (Þorsteinn Bachmann) is a writer and bohemian who finds no peace from unbearable memories anywhere other than at the bottom of the bottle. Eik (Hera Hilmarsdóttir) is a kindergarten teacher who is forced to resort to petty tricks to support herself and her daughter. Sölvi (Þorvaldur Davíð) is a former football star who had to stop playing due to injuries and is now rapidly rising in a dubious bank. Old and new secrets draw the main characters together in a thrilling and shocking storyline that leaves no one untouched. The film is inspired by true events, and viewers may therefore recognize certain situations, characters, or events from real life, as it has not been long since the outbreak was at its peak.
