The songs of Jórunn Viðar, Iceland´s first female composer, are a fascinating combination of folk-like elements, impressionism, playful humour and lyric melancholy. Her meltingly beautiful lullaby, Vökuró, has reached millions as performed by Björk, but this CD contains her complete songs for voice and piano, all in the composer´s unique and colourful style.

Helga Rós Indriðadóttir soprano and pianist Guðrún Dalía Salómonsdóttir have worked closely with the composer on the interpretation of all the songs. They performed and recorded the programme in honour of Jórunn Viðar, who celebrated her 90th last year.
